Our Partners: We can’t do it all
Since its inception in 2020, Teton Trust for Historic Places has secured and managed three easements, created partnerships with numerous nonprofit and government agencies, and received a grant from the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole.
Our preservation partners have also recently achieved tremendous success. The Teton County Historic Preservation Board, The Jackson Hole Historic Society and Museum, Town and County Planning Departments, Town Council, and County Commissioners have completed a historic strategic plan, wrote new land development regulations, and incorporated a new historic register. We are especially thankful for the support of the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). New incentives and development options have been passed by local government, the local registry has approved its first properties to qualify for incentives, and, with SHPO support, a GIS map of historic properties linked to local documents is well underway.
Despite the best efforts of our hard-working group and the following partners, the rate of property demolition/sales and the time needed to properly execute historic easements make it impossible for the Foundation to keep pace. Please consider joining our efforts to preserve community character in the Town of Jackson and in Teton County, Wyoming.
Community Foundation of Jackson Hole
The Community Foundation of Jackson Hole improves lives through philanthropic leadership. For over 30 years, the Foundationhas leveraged local philanthropy to make nonprofits more effective and our community stronger. Addressing critical community needs, the Foundation administers various grant programs and supports organizations based on impact and capacity. The Community Foundation of Jackson Hole manages over $100 million in assets and our annual event, Old Bill’s Fun Run, has raised over $200 million for local nonprofits. Since inception, donors have relied on the Foundation’s experienced staff to assist with their current and planned giving. We provide insight about community needs, due diligence, and simplified administration. Funds at the Community Foundation are carefully guarded, prudently invested, and wisely used.
Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum
The Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum tells the stories of Jackson Hole that connect people to the history of this valley and region. We steward and share artifacts and ideas that foster curiosity and continual learning, forge connections, and inform our 21st century dialogue. We envision a community brought together, enriched, and strengthened by compelling connections to the history and legacy of Jackson Hole.
Jackson Hole Land Trust
The Jackson Hole Land Trust’s mission is to protect and steward the treasured landscapes of Northwest Wyoming. Our vision is a legacy of protected open spaces, wildlife habitat, working lands, and community spaces across Northwest Wyoming that inspire current and future generations.
Teton County Historical Preservation Board
The Teton County Historic Preservation Board exists to identify, protect, and preserve Teton County’s architectural and archaeological heritage to ensure respectful planning and development that preserves our sense of place and community character. The TCHPB envisions a community where vital historic properties exist in concert with new development. Community members and local governments recognize the value and power of historic preservation and implement effective preservation policies and practices.
Town of Jackson
In February, 2021, the Town of Jackson adopted into its Land Development Regulations (LDRs) a new program to preserve historic structures in the Town. Putting your property on the Jackson Historic Register is a voluntary program and always requires the consent of the landowner. The Town cannot designate properties without landowner permission. However, once a property is voluntarily listed on the Historic Register, use of certain development incentives (such as TDRs) require permanent preservation of the historic structure through a preservation easement and/or deed restriction.
