History of the Wort House
The Gladys and John Wort House (c.1935) at 155 West Pearl Avenue is both historic and a keystone to Jackson’s neighborhood community character. Located beside Pearl Street Bagels, the single-story cabin with a gabled roof was built by Gladys and John Wort, son of homesteaders Charles and Luella Wort and developer of the Wort Hotel, between 1934 and 1935.
